As a company, Rowen & Wren places a strong emphasis on handmade processes, traditional skills, natural materials and quality. Their values of creating spaces that feel thoughtful, comfortable and beautiful made them feel very much at home in Gateway, Reigate, Surrey.
It was a busy and productive day, with the team transforming a special area around the squash stack, now complete with a beautiful perch bench handcrafted by one of our volunteers, the perfect spot to pause and enjoy the garden. They also created new habitats for local wildlife, got stuck into gardening and weeding and put their creativity to work by producing educational signage from upcycled wood for our new garden polytunnel. New wooden signs were also sanded and prepared for the raised beds, ready for the season ahead.
With plenty of smiles, laughter and team spirit, it was clear what a positive experience it was for everyone involved. Beyond the practical work, volunteering days give businesses the opportunity to step away from their usual roles, spend time together, learn new skills and make a meaningful difference to their local community.

Supporting our local community is really important to us at Rowen & Wren, and it was a pleasure to spend the day with the team at Gateway Community Garden. We loved being able to get stuck in and contribute in such a practical way while learning more about the valuable work Surrey Care Trust does across the county. We’re delighted to be building our relationship with SCT and hope this is the first of many opportunities to work together.
A huge thank you to everyone at Rowen & Wren. SCT loved having you with us and look forward to welcoming you back to the garden soon!
