Allotments – Tom and Tia’s story

Tia* is a single mum living with her little boy, Tom* who lives with autism.

Together, they come to the local community allotment run by the Stanwell Local Conversation once or twice a week. It’s a safe space. They can come alone and not worry what people think when *Tom shouts or gets upset.

Tia can relax in the open air, and even do some weeding and watering – normal things. Tom is always close by and enjoying the children’s area, he loves being at the allotment and finds it very difficult to leave, he is very much at home there.
