Endeavour's endeavours

Regular updates on the environmental work carried out by our volunteer Swingbridge Endeavour crews.

Tuesday crew have ALDER fun!

Seven of us today. We set off upstream with intention of reversing practice followed by ‘Balsam bashing’ at Shalford steps. Upon arrival at St Caths lock we noticed that a cow was stuck in the river!

A call to Guildford Borough Council soon resulted in the graziers name and telephone number, and contact was made.

We waited on scene until he arrived. Armed only with a bucket of feed the grazier enticed the beast to swim down the river to a point where it could get out…….job done!

With many thanks to us he departed and feeling happy with a job well done, we commenced our reversing practice.

After lunch we contented ourselves with offside balsam bashing and cutback, before returning to the mooring.
