Wellbeing Mentors – Activity Days

Helping young people to improve their mental health by getting outdoors and active!

Since the start of the programme in April 2021, trained volunteers have supported over 110 young people struggling with poor mental health.

As part of this work, the team also use Surrey’s beautiful natural environment, and all of its benefits, to give the young people new opportunities and experiences – to be kids and to have fun!

Each group attends a session without knowing any of the other young people. This, along with the activities helps to build their confidence and self esteem, and support each other away from all the anxieties of school friends and family.

These are new experiences for the young people who suffer with poor mental health, even in some cases with harmful behaviors and trauma. The young people learnt that they’re not alone and there are people who want to help.
