When I arrived in the UK, I was a very lonely mother. I didn’t speak English, I had no family nearby, and I often felt lost trying to navigate a completely new life. Simple everyday tasks felt overwhelming, and there were many times when I didn’t know where to turn for help.
During one of the most difficult periods of my life, I received support from the Family Centre that changed everything for me and my daughters. At a time when I felt isolated and uncertain about the future, I was met with kindness, patience and understanding. Having someone believe in me gave me the strength to keep going when life felt incredibly challenging.
The support I received was about so much more than practical advice. I was encouraged to believe in myself, recognise my strengths and take positive steps forward. Knowing that someone genuinely cared about our wellbeing made a huge difference to my confidence and mental health.
Through this support, I was reminded that there are still genuinely good people in the world. The compassion and professionalism shown to me helped me feel seen, valued and capable of building a better future for my family.
Today, I look back with immense gratitude. The kindness shown to me and my daughters during a time of great need is something I will never forget. The support we received gave us hope, confidence and the belief that we could overcome the challenges we faced.
The kindness and encouragement we received changed our lives. It gave me the confidence to keep moving forward and build a brighter future for my family.
